Re: Old Town Orcutt Revitalization

April 15, 2009

Dear SBCAG Board Member :

The Old Town Orcutt Revitalization Association (OTORA) is requesting that SBCAG appropriate funding for the next phase of the “Old Town” revitalization.

OTORA is a grassroots group of citizens that has been working on the revitalization of Old Town Orcutt since 2003. I am providing you with a hardcopy PowerPoint presentation that shows you some of our accomplishments. We feel that our most important accomplishment is that we have been able to inspire people to invest in their community’s future, as you will see from the numerous projects underway in Old Town Orcutt.

The attached letter from Congressman Elton Gallegly and the attached “Transportation, Community, and System Preservation Program Grant Application” from the County of Santa Barbara, Department of Public Works informs you of what needs to be done (unfortunately we did not get this grant).

I encourage you to visit the County of Santa Barbara’s website for Long Range Planning to see the tremendous amount of work that has been done so far on the Old Town Orcutt revitalization.

We believe that the revitalization of Old Town Orcutt is perfect for President Obama’s stimulus plan. It will help tremendously in getting our local economy going. And it will become an outstanding example of citizens working together with their government to build a “cultural center” for the entire Orcutt Community while preserving our history.

Sincerely,

Steve LeBard
OTORA President
